Searches
The fields are the main way to search. The search functions are an extra for people who prefer them.
Examples on this site use made-up data: the Payments team, its PAY board, and Sprint 42.
Useful searches
What came in after Sprint 42 started?
"Added after start" = "Sprint 42"
What keeps rolling over?
"Times carried over" >= 3 ORDER BY "Times carried over" DESC
Everything delivered in Q3
"Sprint end" >= 2026-07-01 AND "Sprint end" <= 2026-09-30 AND statusCategory = Done
Work items in this quarter's sprints that were ever pulled out of a sprint
"Times removed" > 0 AND "Sprint start" >= startOfQuarter()
Was PAY-212 ever in Sprint 42?
key = PAY-212 AND Sprints = "Sprint 42"
Search functions
An admin can turn these on or off on the admin page. A sprint can be a name, a name with its board ("Sprint 42 (Payments)") or a sprint id.

Why two names
Every function has a name only Sprint Truth uses, starting with sprintTruth, and a shorter one. Another app can use the same short name: ScriptRunner, for example, has its own addedAfterSprintStart that takes a board, not a sprint. When two apps use one name, Jira picks one, and a search can quietly get the other app's answer. The sprintTruth names always reach Sprint Truth, so use them in saved filters.
Sprint Truth checks every day which app answers each short name, and the admin page (Apps → Sprint Truth → Fields) says if another app has one.
Each function hands Jira one short condition on Sprint Truth's own indexed data, not a list of work items. So results don't go stale and aren't cut off at 1,000. Jira runs the search with your own permissions.
Take it to Excel
Run any search, then use Jira's Export → CSV. Add the Sprint Truth fields as columns first.
