Getting started
You need to be a Jira admin to install and set up Sprint Truth. It works with Scrum boards in Jira Cloud.
1. Install
Install Sprint Truth for Jira from the Atlassian Marketplace. It's free for up to 10 users.
2. Pick your boards
- Go to Jira settings → Apps → Sprint Truth.
- Open the Boards tab.
- Choose All Scrum boards or Only these boards, then save.
3. Rebuild past sprints
On the History rebuild tab, pick what to rebuild: all chosen boards, some boards, or sprints since a date. Then start it.
The rebuild reads each work item's sprint history. It runs slowly on purpose so it doesn't slow Jira down. A large site can take hours. You can cancel and resume it. Fields fill in as each batch finishes.
It runs in two passes, and the progress line tells you which one it's on. The first finds work items that are in your sprints now. The second looks for work items that were removed from every sprint and are sitting in the backlog — searching by sprint can't find those, so without the second pass their "Removed from" would come out short. If a rebuild couldn't read one of your boards, it says so rather than quietly covering less.
4. Team-managed projects: one extra step
Team-managed projects only show fields that are on their own field list. In each project, go to Space settings → Fields and add the Sprint Truth fields you want to see.
5. Use it
- Search: use the nine fields in any search, filter or list view.
- Retro: open the project's Sprint Truth page and pick a sprint. The Sprint review page
- Dashboards: add the Sprint scope gadget and pick a board.
- Many teams: open the PMO view tab on the project page and pick up to 25 boards.
Keeping up to date
After the rebuild, Sprint Truth follows sprint and work item changes as they happen. A daily check catches anything missed, and a weekly check re-reads boards with an active sprint. The admin page's Status tab shows when the last change was handled and lists up to 20 work items that failed, with Retry all.
If the license stops
If the license isn't active, Sprint Truth stops updating. Fields keep the values they had. The Sprint review page, the PMO view and both gadgets show a notice instead of numbers. Nothing is deleted.
Uninstalling
When you uninstall, the nine fields disappear from Jira. If you reinstall within 30 days, they come back with their values. Sprint Truth's own stored data is deleted by Atlassian's Forge platform after its retention period. Data deletion
